A Ludwig Dance Theatre has been creating works beyond the traditional concepts of dance, from avant-garde performance pieces to thoughtful reflections on the human condition, since 1977. A Company with a community mind and responsibility, the work of these collaborating artists has been taken to schools and communities throughout Arizona, and places beyond. Choreographer Ludwig's social consciousness has pushed her to develop works on the brutality of domestic violence (seen by thousands of high school students), the devastation of Alzheimer's disease, the complexity of roles for women AND men, the aging process, to name a few. Their dance-theatre for children has brought the magic of the arts together through wondrous visions both in theaters and in schools. A current project will result in the building of a CD-ROM tutorial for participating schools to a performance that finds the common denominator in dance and reading. Whether thoughtful, entertaining, physical, provocative, the work of A Ludwig Dance Theatre stimulates the sense in a new and expanding experience.
A Ludwig Dance Theatre is on the Arizona Commission on the Art’s Roster of Artists, and a non-profit organization. All contributions are tax-deductible and may be designated for new community work, children's work, audience development, or touring.
